* Year 2000 - Los Angeles County Public Defender's Office for a variety of special programs established by Los Angeles County Public Defender Michael P. Judge, including the "Wiretap Project," which consists of a group of specially assigned deputy public defenders that include Kathy Quant, Michael Fischman, and Otis McCray, directed at uncovering and ending the illegal wiretaps being conducted on a massive scale by the Los Angeles Police Department.
 
The award is also given for Mr. Judge's efforts directed at the Federal level to eventually include new defense attorneys in the various "Education Loan Forgiveness" programs throughout the United States that currently only include district attorneys and othe public prosecutors.
 
The office is also recognized for the efforts of Los Angeles County Public Defender Lisa Greer, for her significant contributions in the field of juvenile justice legislation and programs. Recipients shown in the accompanying video include Michael P. Judge, Kathy Quant, Michael Fischman, Otis McCray, and Lisa Greer. The awards are presented by Alameda County Assistant Public Defender James McWilliams, CPDA Past President and current Chair of the CPDA Awards Committee.
