Who We Are

The California Public Defenders Association (CPDA) is a professional organization dedicated to supporting and advancing the work of public defenders and criminal defense attorneys throughout California. CPDA provides continuing legal education, training programs, and resources to ensure the highest standards of legal representation for indigent clients. CPDA also advocates for laws and policies that uphold justice, fairness, protects the constitutional rights of defendants. Public health problems and poverty will never be solved by arrests, prosecutions, and incarceration.

Through networking opportunities, publications, and legislative advocacy, CPDA serves as a vital community for defense attorneys committed to protecting the rights of the accused in California's legal system. When our clients' rights are protected, all Californians' rights are protected.
